Do you need this

Signs this is the call to make

  • The keys are visible on the seat and every door is locked
  • The fob locked itself while the engine was running
  • The trunk closed on the keys
  • The fob battery died and there is no metal blade key
  • A second set exists but it is an hour away

What arrives

What the driver brings, and what he does with it

  • Air wedge and long-reach tool entry, no slim jim on modern door wiring
  • Paint and weather-seal protection at the entry point
  • Trunk access on most models
  • Proof-of-ownership check before the driver touches the vehicle
  • Advice on getting a spare cut before this happens again

How the job runs

A lockout call, start to finish

Numbered because it genuinely happens in this order. Knowing the sequence is most of what makes waiting bearable.

  1. 01

Child or pet locked inside? Call 911 first

Then call us. Emergency services get there faster and are authorised to break glass. We will never ask you to wait when someone is shut in a hot car.

  2. 02

    Have proof of ownership ready

Licence plus insurance slip, the ownership, or a matching name on a rental agreement. The driver has to confirm the car is yours before opening it.

  3. 03

    Non-destructive entry

An air wedge opens a controlled gap at the top of the door frame and a coated reach tool works the lock or the handle from inside.

  4. 04

    Checked before you drive off

The driver reseats the weather strip and confirms the door closes and locks normally.

Lockout questions

The things people ask before they agree to anything

Will this damage the door or the paint?

Not when it is done with the right tools. Air wedges spread the load across the door frame rather than levering on one point. We protect the paint at the entry point and reseat the weather strip afterwards.

Can you get into a car with push-button start?

Yes. Opening the door is a mechanical job regardless of how the car starts. If the fob itself is dead, the driver door usually hides a metal blade lock behind a cover on the handle.

Can you cut or program a replacement key?

No. That is an automotive locksmith or dealer job, because a transponder key has to be cut and coded to the vehicle. We get you into the car.

  • Slid into the ditch on a concession road at 11pm with no cell bars. They kept the truck rolling to where I said I was instead of giving up when the call dropped. Out in twenty minutes, no damage to the bumper.

  • Quoted me on the phone before dispatching and the invoice matched to the dollar. Last company I used added a night surcharge I only found out about at the drop-off.

  • Boosted the car in the GO lot and then load-tested the battery, which is how I found out it was on its way out. He fitted a new one in the parking space. Would have been stranded again by Friday otherwise.
